Far over the Misty Mountains rise
Lead us standing upon the height
What was before we see once more
Is our kingdom a distant light
Fiery mountain beneath a moon
The words aren’t spoken, we’ll be there soon
For home a song that echoes on
And all who find us will know the tune
Some folk we never forget
Some kind we never forgive
Haven’t seen the back of us yet
We’ll fight as long as we live
All eyes on the hidden door
To the Lonely Mountain [?]
We’ll ride in the gathering storm
Until we get our long forgotten gold
We lay under the Misty Mountains cold
In slumbers deep, and dreams of gold
We must awake, our lives to make
And in the darkness a torch we hold
From long ago when lanterns burned
Until this day our hearts have yearned
A fate unknown, the Arkenstone
What was stolen must be returned
We must away ere break of day
To find our song for heart and soul
Some folk we never forget
Some kind we never forgive
Haven’t seen the end of it yet
We’ll fight as long as we live
All eyes on the hidden door
To the Lonely Mountain [?]
We’ll ride in the gathering storm
Till we get our long forgotten gold
Far away the Misty Mountains cold.

it is... some serious emotions are tearing my heart when listening to it, for example, i yelled at my bf without a reason, i was so emotional at that moment
Re: Song of the Lonely Mountain by Neil Finn
The line 'we'll fight as long as we live' and 'you haven't seen the end of it yet' really did pull on some heart strings. The dwarves' determination is so strong it's like an endless battle and war to reach their goal. Not just a battle with enemies like goblins, wargs and orcs but a battle with the elements too.
Its quite a sorrowful song as well as a song of an amazing adventure, honour and determination.

But you're right, when that song start - it's gonna be really emotional and my sister and dad will think I'm crazy for letting it get to me like that!

I know the words to that song by heart now. When I heard it the first time, still weeping from the awesomeness of the movie and Thorin's behaviour towards the hobbit, I was not sure whether I like it or not.
I can honestly say I love it now. I set the Misty Mountains (dwarf theme) as a ringtone that wakes me up in the morning and so far my getting ups feel so much better.
I feel strongly connected to dwarves when I listen to it and hear the ringing of anvil and some of my favourite lines *Some folk we never forget... Haven't seen the back of us yet, we'll fight as long a we live*
Neil definitely did a great job with those lyrics, very dwarvish and heart-touching.

I love this song. The poem has always been one of my favorites of Tolkien's poems. I think I like the cast version just a little more for vocals but it isn't long enough. Just imagine if they did a full blended version with the cast singing a full version and blended it with Neil's song...WOW it would be great!
